Auckland Champs Hockey
BOYS
On Monday 5 August, the Somerville Intermediate Boys' Hockey team proudly represented our school at the highly competitive Auckland Championships. The event brought together the top hockey teams from across the region, with fierce competition and outstanding sportsmanship on display throughout the day.
Our boys started strong, going undefeated in their pool matches and finishing at the top of their group. This impressive performance saw them qualify for the semi-finals, where they
faced off against Kristen School. In a tightly contested match, Somerville came out on top with a 2-1 victory, earning their spot in the final.
The grand final saw Somerville take on Northcross Intermediate, another strong and talented team. Despite an incredible season without a single loss, the boys were narrowly defeated 0-1 in a hard-fought game.
Although they didn’t take home the trophy, the boys should be immensely proud of their efforts, resilience, and teamwork both on and off the field. They represented Somerville Intermediate with pride, passion, and integrity. Well done, boys — your school and community are proud of you!
GIRLS
On Thursday 7 August, the Somerville Intermediate girls' hockey team competed in the Auckland Champs. It was a tough competition, and although we only won one of our games, everyone put in 100% and did their very best.
The girls were proud to represent Somerville at this event. They supported each other both on and off the field, and displayed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
