Welcome to Somerville Intermediate
It is my privilege and pleasure to be the Principal at Somerville Intermediate. As an experienced Principal, I have an in-depth and firsthand experience of what it takes to deliver and continuously improve a high performing school.
Our Motto is “the best you can be”. This is our vision for our students and equally important, for all those who are part of the Somerville team. A strong virtues programme, ASPIRE which fosters a solution-focused Attitude, Service, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Excellence is a cornerstone of our school. These virtues create a positive, inclusive and collaborative culture. Our students thrive in an environment where there are high expectations for learning and behaviour.
Through a carefully designed curriculum, learning focuses on making a meaningful difference in the world. The holistic education we provide ensures our students are well equipped academically, socially, emotionally and physically for what lies ahead.
Learning experiences are engaging, authentic and cognitively challenging. The goal is to develop competent and capable graduates who will contribute as active and engaged citizens of the world.
We have an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) programmes. Students are actively encouraged to investigate future career pathways in these areas and we seek authentic opportunities to network with community groups and industries. Our students learn in a digitally rich environment and use a range of innovative technologies which support future-focused learning. We encourage all students to bring along a digital device that meets our specifications.
