Transport

Students are required to travel directly to and from school each morning and afternoon. They may not stop at shops on their way.

School Buses

Students who live in rural areas may be eligible for school transport assistance. Somerville must be the closest state or state-integrated school where the student can enrol.

Please click here for eligibility criteria. Ministry funded buses are provided through Howick & Eastern Buses.

Please note:

There is one Ministry funded bus that will collect students from the Loop Road at Somerville Intermediate at approximately 3.10 pm each day. This bus will then go to an interchange on Meadowland Drive, before taking students home.

  4. Click on FILTERS and check School bus (uncheck the others)

  5. Starting point is Somerville Intermediate School.

Bicycles

The roads around Somerville Intermediate school are extremely busy and hazardous to cyclists. Parents are to take responsibility for allowing their child to cycle to school. Please provide a note to school if your child is to cycle. Students must wear a helmet and should know the road code. Bicycles at school are left at the owner's risk.

Road Safety

Please note:

To minimise the potential harm to students created by cars and buses competing for space, the loop road at the front of the school is closed between 7.45 - 8.45 am and 2.45 - 3.45 pm each day, except for buses, shuttles and students requiring assistance.

10 kph only through the loop road at all times.

Road Patrol Times - Meadowland Drive

8.10 - 8.30 am and 2.55 - 3.15 pm

Outside of these times, the back gate is locked. Please use the Woodgers Way walkway.

We ask that parents model aspects of road safety:

  • In the way they use and respect pedestrian crossings.

  • In the manner in which they park.

  • In the way they use the loop road in front of the school.
