SEZ Rugby League
The Somerville Intermediate Rugby League team competed in the South Eastern Zone tournament at Ngati Ōtara Park on Tuesday 12 August.
Our first pool game was a tough contest, ending in a 12–12 draw against Howick Intermediate. In the second pool game against Elim, the team found their rhythm and won convincingly, 28–4. The third pool match was against a strong Farm Cove Intermediate side, where Somerville came out on top 24–16.
This set up a rematch against Farm Cove in the final. It was a close battle in the first half, with Somerville leading 12–8. In the second half, the team’s determination and teamwork saw them pull away to secure a 28–16 victory, claiming the South Eastern Zone title.
We are very proud of the boys for showing outstanding skills, teamwork, resilience, and determination. A big thank you to the whānau who came to support us – your encouragement made a real difference.
