Kids’ Lit Quiz

This year, the annual Kids’ Lit Quiz took place much earlier than usual. On Thursday 10 April, nine students represented our school at the Auckland Kids’ Lit Quiz, held at St Cuthbert’s College. A huge thank you to Jocelyne J, Manayah P, Hanseo M, Jacob A, Olivia L, Enney P, Ellsa W, Simrin J, and Jay W, for showcasing their impressive knowledge of children’s literature.

While we didn’t place in the top two to qualify for the national competition, our teams amazed us with their broad, and sometimes wonderfully random knowledge, across a variety of literature topics. The Somerville teams had a fantastic time at the event, hosted by quizmaster extraordinaire Wayne Mills. Over 80 teams competed in ten themed rounds, with unique categories such as Pigs, Food, Cutlery, and Shops.

Our students worked brilliantly as a team and should be proud of the effort they put into preparing. They gave up countless morning intervals, immersed themselves in reading, and studied diligently in their own time. A special thank you to Mrs Wang for helping with transport to the event.
