Year 7 Camp
Motutapu Island will stay long in the memories for those who attended the Motutapu Outdoor Education Camps this year. The chance to get away from devices and the classroom to experience the outdoors, new activities, and bond with classmates in a safe and challenging environment proved, once again, the value of camp.
Activities this year included high ropes, raft building, kayaking, climbing, gun walk, orienteering, flying fox, stand-up paddle boarding, and team-building exercises such as survivor challenge and confidence course.
Our fantastic group of parent helpers also played an important role as they provided additional supervision and support for the teachers. They were invaluable in overseeing group activities and assisting with meal preparation and final day cleanup. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated by all the Somerville staff who attended. Their contributions make a difference in the success of the camp and they play an important role in ensuring that students have a positive and memorable experience.
Lastly, to all the students who attended the Year 7 Camps, you are to be congratulated on your positive attitude and commitment. I am sure you will take many lasting memories from your time on Motutapu and join me in thanking the MOEC instructors, Gary the cook and all the parents and teachers who were there with you every step of the way.
