Ugly Shakespeare
On Monday 19 May, our Year 8 students had the privilege of experiencing a live show from The Ugly Shakespeare Company. Each year, The Ugly Shakespeare Company presents an interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s works for student audiences. The plays are unique adaptations of the traditional play and focus on telling Shakespeare’s stories in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for younger audiences.
Three young actors share dual roles in these vibrant and exciting performances. This year, the company took on ‘The Tempest’. Not knowing quite what to expect, our students were delighted by the humour and audience connection that the actors were able to incorporate. We endeavour to spark a love of the classics and theatre, and The Ugly Shakespeare Company certainly makes this accessible to students.
