Gymnastics Festival

On Wednesday 29 July, 39 gymnasts and two student coaches headed to Howick Gymnastics Club to participate in the East Auckland Gymnastics Festival. Read more

13 of these gymnasts showcased their skills in rhythmic gymnastics, which was excellent preparation for the upcoming AIMS Games. They had an opportunity to practise, receive feedback and then display their ball, ribbon and hoop routines in front of a judge.

The remaining 26 children took part in the artistic division with some more experienced gymnasts doing ‘Twisters’ routines while the majority performed “Flyers’ skills on the floor, vault and beam (girls) or bar (boys).

The judges awarded each routine a gold, silver or bronze level and at the end of the competition, each gymnast was awarded a certificate along with a ribbon representing their average level.

Thanks to artistic coaches Abby and Lara and rhythmic student coaches, Hannah and Rayna for supporting all of the competitors. We’d also like to express our sincere thanks to Belinda M, Lisa B, Swati K, Amy H, Amanda U and Megan R for giving up their time to help to transport the students.
