In mid-June, 64 members of the Somerville Intermediate Gymnastics Squad went to Howick Gymnastics Club for the South Eastern Zone Gymnastics competition. This was the largest number of gymnasts that Somerville has entered for this event.

The gymnasts were entered in the Flyers, Twisters or Competitive divisions, depending on their experience; Following many weeks of early morning, lunchtime and occasional Sunday training sessions, the results were exceptional, with Somerville competitors winning an unprecedented 6 out of 6 team competitions and 6 out of 6 individual titles. Many other teams also came second or third and as a result, 60 gymnasts will be attending the Auckland Champs in August. The individual placings are indicated in brackets next to the gymnasts’ names.
