SEZ Rugby - Boys
U45kgs
On Thursday 11 June, the Boys' U45 Rugby team participated in a highly competitive South Eastern Zones tournament, taking on both Howick Intermediate and Sacred Heart College in two games each.
Our opening game against Howick Intermediate provided a great opportunity for the boys to gel as a team, particularly on attack, resulting in a convincing 36–0 victory. We knew Sacred Heart would present a tougher challenge, and both teams showcased strong defence and powerful running. A determined performance from our boys saw them come away with a hard-fought 19–14 win.
The team went on to win their remaining two matches, finishing the day undefeated and securing their place at the Auckland Championships.
Some standout performances included strong runs down the wing from late call-up Fletcher (R6) and relentless defence from Luca (R15). Every player had moments to shine throughout the day, and it was impressive to watch combinations develop and confidence grow with each game.
A special shout-out to our amazing coach, Brad, for the mana and enthusiasm he brings to the team, as well as to our wonderful parent helpers and supporters, who cheered the boys on throughout the day.
Bring on Auckland Champs!

The boys displayed great sportsmanship throughout the South Eastern Zone Rugby Tournament at the Pakuranga Rugby Club. The team opened with a loss to a strong Bucklands Beach Intermediate side but rebounded with a convincing win against Ormiston Junior College. They then dropped a tough match to a skillful Howick Intermediate team. In the repeat rounds, the boys fell again to Bucklands Beach, bounced back to beat Ormiston a second time, and finished with a narrow, hard-fought loss to Howick. A massive thank you to all the supporters on the sidelines.
