SEZ Volleyball

Girls

The Somerville Girls’ Volleyball squad competed in the 2026 SEZ tournament held at Bruce Pullman Park on Wednesday 14 October. They played 4 games in their pool against Beachlands School, Farm Cove Intermediate, Ferguson Intermediate and Howick Intermediate. The team played very well and had 2 wins and 2 losses but the point margin was so good that it placed us 2nd in the pool sending us to the semi-finals in a good position.  During the semi-finals the team fought hard and won the game against Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate which meant we were in the finals playing off for 1st and 2nd place.

The girls played with great sportsmanship, team spirit and did our school proud, but sadly Bucklands Beach Intermediate took the win resulting in us being awarded 2nd place.

The Girls squad included: Kapri H, Oria L, Marisha D, Sofia G, Sophia X, Kha-my N, Lennox K, Maya R and Wei Zhen D.

Boys

On Wednesday 14 October, the Somerville Boys’ Volleyball squad travelled to Bruce Pulman Park, to compete in the 2026 South Eastern Zone Volleyball competition. 10 teams competed in the tournament.

At the end of pool play we had losses to Sir Edmund Hillary, Ferguson Intermediate, Beachlands and Mission Heights. This placed us 5th in our pool.

Our next game pitted us against Howick which we lost, meaning we finished in 10th place.

Our boys showed true fighting spirit, terrific sportsmanship, and were a credit to the school.

The 2026 Boys’ squad comprised; Gabriel, Max, Leo, Isaiah, Daniel, Matt, Mohamad, Wish and Kairav.
