Auckland Chess Championship

On Wednesday 16th September, the Somerville Chess Team A competed in the Auckland Junior High Chess Championship at Northcote Intermediate School. Somerville Team A finished 4th overall in the Champion Division, with a team result of 3 wins and 2 losses.  Standout player was Olivia Li, who was awarded Best Girl Player and also placed 2nd on Board 1, and Jaden Lee placed 3rd on Board 2,  a very pleasing result for a Year 7 player. 

The individual games played and won results were as follows:

Olivia Li  – 4/5
Jaden  Lee– 3.5/5
Alex Lee – 2/5
Ahana  Gupta– 3.5/5

The team finished with 13 game points in total. The team did a great job representing Somerville, and really enjoyed the tournament.
