Auckland Netball Competition
As we near the end of another fantastic Auckland Netball Competition season, we'd like to celebrate the incredible people who have made this season so successful.
Since trials began back in Term 1, our netballers have shown incredible commitment, attending training and Tuesday evening games throughout Terms 2 and 3. This year, Somerville proudly fielded six teams—two Year 7 teams and four Year 8 teams—providing a wonderful opportunity for so many students to develop their skills, confidence, resilience and love of the game.
One of the greatest strengths of our programme is that it provides opportunities for students of all abilities to participate, challenge themselves, build friendships and experience being part of a team.
It has been fantastic to watch the growth across all teams this season. From individual skill development to teamwork, game awareness and resilience, our players have continued to improve each week while representing Somerville with pride, enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship. Regardless of the scoreboard, every team has shown determination, perseverance and a willingness to keep learning and growing.
A huge thank you goes to our incredible whānau. Week after week, parents and caregivers have supported our players by coaching, managing teams, providing transport and cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines. Your time, encouragement and commitment make these opportunities possible, and we are incredibly grateful.
We're also incredibly fortunate to have had the support of some of our former students, who have generously given their time to coach and umpire this season. A special thank you to Ava R, Zoey C and Chloe T for sharing your knowledge, passion and love of netball with our current players. It is wonderful to see past Somerville students giving back and inspiring the next generation of Somerville netballers.
Finally, thank you to Mrs E, Miss G, Mr L, and everyone else who has supported our netball programme throughout the season. Whether coaching at trainings, supporting at games or working behind the scenes, your contribution has helped create such a positive experience for our students.
With just a few games remaining, we look forward to seeing all six teams finish the season strongly.
Thank you to every player, coach, manager, umpire and whānau member who has contributed to another wonderful season of Somerville netball. We are incredibly proud of all that has been achieved both on and off the court.
