Auckland Champs Gymnastics

On Friday 8 August, 49 Somerville students made the journey across Auckland to Waitakere Gymnastics Club for the Auckland Champs Gymnastics competition.

43 of the gymnasts competed as part of 11 Somerville teams and they finished with some superb results. We would like to acknowledge Sienna P and Axel F who had qualified for the finals, but they were unable to attend the competition.

In the afternoon division, Somerville had 7 gymnasts attending the competition for those who train for multiple hours outside school. Siddhi P, Eden G, Celestine Z and Charlize C qualified for this event but didn’t attend due to an important competition being held the next day.

We are also extremely grateful to Matt L, Karen L, Tania S, Aimee H, Shaun G, and former Somerville students Abby and Lara v B for their coaching expertise and help with the Sunday training session, immediately before the Auckland Champs competition. This has truly been a team effort!
