On Monday 2 November, around 460 Somerville students travelled to Lloyd Elsmore Athletics Track for our annual Competitive Athletics Day.
After weeks of preparation and achieving the qualifying standards for the events, students competed in a range of track events, from the 100m sprints to the 1500m, as well as field events including High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus. It was great to see students putting their skills into practice, challenging themselves and supporting their whānau along the way.
A big thank you to our staff and the parents who volunteered their time to help with timekeeping and running the events. Your support helped make the day run smoothly.
Congratulations to all those who competed, and to the top 3 athletes in each event, who have qualified to represent Somerville at the South Eastern Zone Athletics Championships on Wednesday 18 November at Mt Smart Stadium.
The results are below for everyone to celebrate. Well done to all our athletes!
