Auckland Champs Swimming
Following a very short turnaround from the SEZ competition the day before, 10 of our swimmers backed up impressively to compete at the Auckland Championships, held at West Wave Pools in Henderson. With an early 7:30am start for travel, the team showed great commitment and resilience.
Despite the quick recovery time, our swimmers produced some outstanding performances. A number of students progressed through to finals, including Hayley L, Ethan J, Cavan R, and Kieran, which was a fantastic achievement at such a high level of competition.
Final results were as follows:
Hayley L: 3rd – 50m Freestyle; 7th – 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke
Ethan J: 8th – 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke
Cavan R: 6th – 50m Breaststroke; 7th – 50m Backstroke
Kieran: 8th – 100m Freestyle
Our relay teams were a highlight of the day. The Year 7 Girls Freestyle Relay team of Isha D, Emily W, Mackenzie B and Hayley L delivered an excellent performance to finish 3rd, while the Year 8 Boys Freestyle Relay team of Kieran H, Matthew Z, Cavan R and Ethan J capped off the meet with an exciting 2nd place finish.
Overall, it was a fantastic effort from all swimmers, especially given the demanding schedule. The team represented the school with pride, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
