SEZ Softball
Year 8 Girls
On Monday 9 March, our Year 8 Girls’ Softball team spent the day at our SEZ tournament. It was a lovely day and they showed a multitude of sportsmanship. They worked together as a team and supported each other throughout the day. They lost the first game of the day but bounced back winning the next 3 pool games. This put us in the playoffs for first and second. After a hard fought game they managed to cement second place and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

Year 8 Boys
The Year 8 Boys Softball Team had an outstanding day at the tournament hosted by Howick Softball Club on Wednesday 11 March. The team started strong with a 4–1 win against Farm Cove Intermediate, followed by a 10–3 victory over Howick Intermediate. In their third pool game, they continued their winning form, defeating Redoubt North 8–3.
In the final for first and second place, the team faced a big-hitting side from Ferguson Intermediate and delivered a superb performance to win 6–1. Throughout the day, the team showed excellent sportsmanship, determination, and respect for the umpires, along with outstanding batting and fielding skills.
A big thank you to Mrs Pietersen for the professional organisation of the tournament, and to Mr Dormehl and the Year 7 team for training with us and helping sharpen our skills.

Year 7 Girls
The Year 7 Girls Softball team attended the South Eastern Zones tournament on 9 March. For many of the girls it was their first time playing softball, and they adapted quickly to the rules and strategies of the game.
The team started the day strongly with a win against Pakuranga Intermediate, who later went on to win the overall competition. They then faced challenging pool games against Farm Cove Intermediate and Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate, showing great determination and enthusiasm throughout the day. Finishing 4th overall, the girls played Farm Cove again in the 3rd–4th playoff. A strong first innings saw the team score three runs and make several excellent catches in the field, but Farm Cove managed to take the lead late in the game.
The girls represented the school with great effort and teamwork and should be very proud of their performance.
