SEZ Athletics

Our Somerville athletes had an awesome day out at the South Eastern Zone (SEZ) Athletics Competition at Mt Smart Stadium on Tuesday 18 November. The weather did its best to hold off, but the rain eventually arrived just in time for the finals and last round of field events. Even so, our students took it all in their stride and showed great determination, teamwork, and school pride.

We’re excited to celebrate the fantastic achievements of all our athletes, especially those who placed in the top three of their events and have earned a spot at the Auckland Championships.

Year 7 Girls

  • Charlotte H: 3rd - 1500m

  • Oria L: 3rd - 100m, 200m; 2nd -  LJ

  • Zoe K: 2nd - 400m

  • Ariya S: 3rd - 400m

  • Leerae C:1st - SP

Y7 Girls relay team: 3rd (Oria, Zoe, Ariya and Holly L)

Year 7 Boys

  • Ben K: 2nd - 800m, 1500m

  • Casey L: 3rd - 1500m

  • Jace Y: 3rd - 400m

  • Noah K: 2nd - 400m

  • Jacob K: 1st - LJ

Auckland Champs

Another great day of athletics with 28 of our students participating in the Auckland Champs Interzone competition at Mt Smart Stadium. The heat radiated off the track, but the students gave of their best in tough conditions. A huge congratulations to Leerae C who achieved 1st place in the girls year 7 shotput event.
