Kai Hakāri Celebration

In the final week of Term 3, the Whakamana group, together with members of our kapa haka, celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori with a kai hākari (feast). Ākonga took pride in preparing the kai and transforming their classroom into a welcoming wharekai.

Whānau were warmly welcomed to join us for lunch. The hui began with a karakia and waiata, followed by opportunities to practise te reo Māori and share our learning journey. After blessing the food, everyone enjoyed the delicious hāngi kai!

We were honoured to have two inspirational guest speakers join us — Sergeant Paul Bray - Youth Aid Officer for East Auckland and Staff Sergeant Nadia Pou/Edwards from the New Zealand Army — who shared uplifting messages.

A big thank you to our staff and to Whaea Carolyn’s whānau for their generous support in making this celebration such a memorable occasion.
