SEZ Tag Rugby

Girls

On Tuesday 24 February, the Girls Tag Rugby team competed in the South-Eastern and Eastern Zone Tournament in Panmure. Facing ten strong schools, the team showed determination and skill. After opening with a tough loss to last year’s champions, Sir Edmund Hillary School, they bounced back with a 9–0 win over Elim Christian College.

The knockout stages saw excellent teamwork in a 3–3 draw against Farm Cove, earning a place in the finals against Redoubt North, where they again fought hard to a 3–3 draw. Finishing 5th overall and 7th in the South-Eastern Zone, the girls displayed speed, perseverance, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

Boys

On Tuesday, 24 February, the Boys Tag Rugby team competed in the South Eastern Zone competition. Their first game was a must-win for local pride against Bucklands Beach Intermediate, where they secured a strong victory with some impressive tries.

The second game against Farm Cove Intermediate was a dominant performance, highlighted by Liam (R28) making a try-saving rip in the corner. In the remaining pool games, the team showed excellent fitness, aggressive defence, and speed, with Grayson (R15) and Max (R16) combining for six tries.

The final saw them face a strong Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate side. Somerville Intermediate School scored first, and the game was tied 3–3 at halftime, but they were ultimately defeated 5–3.

The boys showed great determination, teamwork, and skill throughout the tournament. A special thank you to Brad Colebrook for his dedication and coaching.
