STEAM/Careers Expo
Friday 31 October
We are excited to announce that our Year 8 STEAM/Careers Expo will be held on Friday 31 October. Our goal for the day is to expose students to a wide range of careers, while highlighting the connections to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) across all fields.
As we know, life and learning don’t happen in curriculum silos; they are transdisciplinary and interconnected. Moreover, they are underpinned by essential skills and capabilities, such as Communication & Collaboration, Awareness of Self and Others, Cultural and Social Awareness and Adaptive and Productive Thinking (Āheitanga).
We aim for this event to broaden our students’ perspectives, helping them see the various career opportunities available and connect their learning, personal development, and future aspirations.
To make this event as enriching as possible, we need your support in providing a diverse range of career options, including young adults involved in study or trade apprenticeships. We are looking for presenters who are willing to share insights about their careers in one or more 30-minute sessions. We are planning to run 6–7 sessions across 22 spaces (132–154 sessions in total), accommodating all Year 8 students. Each session will have approximately 20–25 students.
We are also hoping to kick off the Expo with an inspiring keynote speaker to ignite our students’ curiosity. If you, or someone you know, is passionate about speaking to young people and would be interested in taking on this role, we would love to hear from you. The keynote speaker will address the students for approximately 30 minutes to help set the tone for the day and spark their thinking about future career possibilities.
If you or someone you know can contribute to all or part of our STEAM/Careers Expo, or if you're interested in serving as the keynote speaker, please complete the Google Form, which has session times, accessible via the web link or QR code below, by Monday 20th October.
