Situated on a level, north facing site of 5.3 hectares, the school is an innovative and unique award winning design. A large intermediate school that has a student population of approximately 920-950 children throughout the year, Somerville Intermediate boasts many excellent facilities for the students to use and support the teaching and learning.
Some of our facilities:
- The internal arcade ("the street") provides a bright, appealing environment that fosters collaboration and connection between classroom and outdoor learning spaces.
- Our modern specialist facilities include an extensively equipped workshop, science laboratory, art room, music suite, dance and drama suite and state of the art food technology room.
- Catering for a full range of sporting activities, our school site encompasses two large sports fields, netball and basketball courts and an all-weathet Astroturf with a full size hockey pitch, five netball courts, soccer and futsal fields and a running circuit.
- A modern, senior agility playground provides a good level of challenge for intermediate-aged students. The activities are specifically designed to provide fun and interactive play, as well as, competition that can be incorporated in our sport and fitness programme.
- A multipurpose facility/gymnasium and schoo hall provide for indoor sports, school assemblies, cultural and social events. Our large multi-purpose gymnasium provides opportunities to celebrate school life and connect with the wider community.
- Our pastoral care facilities include a counselling centre and modern health rooms.
- The well-resourced, interactive Information Centre is a bright, flexible space that fosters a love for reading, research and sharing learning.
