 What to expect
Somerville Intermediate School opened in 1997. Situated on a level, north facing site of 5.3 hectares, the school is an innovative and unique award winning design.
- An internal arcade (“the street”) links all the main block of rooms, providing a cool working environment in summer and, with total under-floor heating, is warm and dry in winter.
- Somerville Intermediate is well resourced for information technology. A large, centrally located, information centre holds over 25,000 up-to-date books and resources.
- Computers in every classroom, plus several labs of computers for use by the students, as well as a number of computer on wheel facilities.
- The school is fully networked for telephone, facsimile, computer and video/TV, with access to all forms of multi-media.
- Five purpose built specialist rooms include an extensively equipped workshop, science laboratory, art room, music suite and food tech room.
- Catering for a full range of sporting activities, the school site encompasses two large sports fields, tennis, netball and basketball courts and a synthetic multi sport field.
- Landscaped grounds provide an open, safe and pleasant outdoor environment.
- An extensive adventure playground and fitness trail for students to play and socialise.
- A multipurpose facility/gymnasium and school hall provides for indoor sports, school assemblies, cultural and social events.
