Wakamiya School 
       & Somerville Intermediate

Somerville Intermediate has had an ongoing  International Relationship with Wakamiya School in Fukuoka, Japan for 12 years now.  In 2009, Wakamiya and Somerville Intermediate celebrated their 10 year anniversary of their International Relationship. 

Regular student visits between the two schools are features of the International Relationships.  The International Relationship has enabled both New Zealand Students from Somerville Intermediate and Japanese students from Wakamiya to gain a greater understanding of Japanese and New Zealand Culture.  Further, the International Relationships has supported second language learning for Somerville and Wakamiya students and given the students a look inside a Japanese and New Zealand School! 

Somerville Students who have taken part in the visits regularly state what a wonderful school Wakamiya is and what an amazing country Japan is.  The photographs to your right illustrate what a fantastic relationship the two schools have.

Somerville Intermediate looks forward to a continued International Relationshp with Wakamiya for many years.
