School Routine

School Assemblies

Held on alternate Fridays from 1.45 pm to 2.45 pm for Year 7 and Year 8. School assemblies are organised to fully involve students. Parents are very welcome to attend. Special assemblies, including a graduation ceremony for Year 8 students, are held at the end of each school year.

Absence and Lateness

Somerville Intermediate operates a “check safe” system. If your child is going to be late or absent, please contact the school in order to assist the effective operation of this system.

In the case of a foreseen absence from school, please discuss an exemption with your child’s teacher. A note should be given to the class teacher in the case of leave for doctor, dentist etc. Students are required to sign out at the office prior to leaving the school grounds.

Please immediately advise us of any change of phone number or address. If your child does not arrive at school and you have not notified us of absence, we phone you or your emergency number.

Money

Apart from a small sum to spend at the school canteen, students are not encouraged to bring large amounts of money to school. Money intended for a specific purpose should be sealed in a labelled envelope and handed to the class teacher.

 

Canteen and Lunch Scheme

A healthy lunch scheme is available from the school canteen. Lunches are ordered before school and delivered to classrooms for lunchtime. The canteen is open at morning interval and lunchtime for the purchase of snacks and drinks.
